What is Par 68 Golf's Philosophy?

The following ideas will get you started with changing the way you play the game.

Develop unparalleled short game skills in order to “save par” from anywhere.

  • PGA Tour stats in 2025 for Greens In Regulation (GIR) was 66.56%, which means they are hitting 12 greens per round and miss 6 greens.
  • PGA Tour Scrambling was 58.52%. On average, Tour Pros are only wasting 2 or 3 strokes a round when they miss the green.
  • How are you doing?

Manage Risk vs. Reward from tee to green for each shot.

  • What is the weight of a bogey? a double bogey? a triple bogey?
Considerations on a par 4…just to get back to par
Score # Of Bad Strokes In Order to Recover # Of Good Strokes
1 bogey 1 = 1 birdie 3
1 double bogey 2 = 2 birdies 6
1 triple bogey 3 = 3 birdies 9

Learn how to look at a hole for the first time and dissect how to maneuver around the obstacles.

  • If you can’t reach it…you can’t go in it. Choose a club that puts you safely in play and takes obstacles out of play.
  • How do you get into a scoring position to use your strengths? (See point #5 below)

Use self-discipline to execute your game plan to keep from having those dreaded “blow-up” holes.

  • Don’t make up for a bad shot on the same hole. Be patient and rely on your skills to make up for the bad stroke on another hole when the opportunity presents itself.
  • When you do get into trouble, what mindset do you have for getting out? Do you guarantee NOT to get a double or worse by making another bad decision? (See point #2 above)
  • Is your recovery game solid enough to play safe but still get a par?

Learn how to use YOUR skills to score without having to go through major swing changes.

  • What are your specific strengths? What are your weaknesses?
  • Do you have a game plan to capitalise on your strengths and stay away from your weaknesses? (See point #3 above)
